  • Fine motor development refers to the growth and coordination of the small muscles in the hands and fingers. These skills are essential for everyday tasks like writing, buttoning clothes, using utensils, and manipulating small objects. As children grow, developing strong fine motor skills supports their independence, academic readiness, and confidence in daily activities.

At Move & Bloom, we use play-based, therapeutic activities to help children build the strength, coordination, and control they need for success in school and life.

  • Sensory processing is the way the brain receives, organizes, and responds to information from the senses—like touch, sound, movement, sight, taste, and smell. For children, efficient sensory processing is essential for feeling safe, focused, and ready to learn, play, and connect with others.

Some children may have challenges with sensory processing, which can affect their ability to stay calm, pay attention, or participate in daily routines. At Move & Bloom, we support children in interpreting and responding to sensory input in ways that help them feel more comfortable, confident, and in control of their world.

  • Feeding and eating skills involve a child’s ability to eat a variety of foods safely and effectively. This includes everything from sitting at the table, holding utensils, and chewing and swallowing, to trying new foods and managing different textures, tastes, and temperatures.

Some children may struggle with eating due to sensory sensitivities, oral-motor delays, medical issues, or limited exposure to different foods. At Move & Bloom, we use a compassionate, child-led approach to support positive mealtime experiences, helping children build confidence, comfort, and the skills needed for safe and healthy eating.

  • Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) are the everyday self-care tasks that help children become more independent at home, school, and in the community. These include things like getting dressed, brushing teeth, using the toilet, washing hands, and managing mealtime routines.

When a child has difficulty with these tasks, it can impact their confidence and participation in daily life. At Move & Bloom, we support children in developing the motor skills, coordination, and routines they need to master these essential life skills in fun, practical, and meaningful ways.

  • Pre-academic skills are the foundational abilities children need to prepare for school success. These include early concepts like recognizing shapes, colors, letters, and numbers, as well as important skills like attending to tasks, following directions, using school tools (like scissors or crayons), and sitting for short periods.

Strong pre-academic skills support a child’s ability to learn, participate, and thrive in the classroom. At Move & Bloom, we help children build these skills through playful, developmentally appropriate activities that support both learning and confidence in early educational settings.
